Fanney Rut Guðmundsdóttir is a central midfielder or defender for Sindri in the women’s Third Division, who started their 2025 league campaign with a pair of road trips from Southeast to the capital region. Progress has been steady in recent years for the Höfn-based club, with 2024 seeing a late-season flurry of goals land them at 8th-place in 2.deild, with 6 wins from 18 matching their 2021 total (though from 12 games) for their best finish since 2019 (7 from 12).
This years’ season opener at Smári continued the high-scoring with a 6-1 win in Kópavogur before coming from behind late on to draw with league newcomers KÞ in Laugardalur. Fanney Rut brings us a photo diary covering both games as well as what she got up to in between, as she balances training with studying at Menntaskóli (high school).
